Optometry Board Guidance in Registering as a Dispensing Optometrist
IMPORTANT
Read this document and all provided links before accessing the Board of Pharmacy (BOP) Portal below.
This is a two-step process:
Step One - Create a Profile (https://portal.ncbop.org/)
Step Two - Register as a Dispensing Optometrist (instructions within the BOP Guide Below)
STEP ONE
CREATING A PROFILE
Once you start this process, you cannot leave it without losing data.
Otherwise, your account may be created, but you will not be able to access it without contacting the Board of Pharmacy
ON THE FIRST PAGE, THE FIRST TWO ANSWERS ARE 'NO'
UNDER CONTACT INFORMATION, YOU WILL SEE THE QUESTIONS IN THE IMAGE TO THE RIGHT:
YOU MUST LEAVE NABP E-PROFILE NUMBER BLANK (circled)
AT THE VERY END OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS, YOU'LL GET AN ALERT SAYING YOU MUST HAVE a NABP e-Profile NUMBER, PLEASE IGNORE THAT.

STEP TWO
Log back into your Portal and follow the guidance provided by the Board of Pharmacy here:

HOWEVER - Before logging back in, you will need to have the following two documents prepared:
A license verification screenshot/printed from this Board. You may obtain that here: https://www.ncoptometry.org/verify-a-license
A draft pharmacy label, an example is provided to the right ➡️
If you would like to download the template at right and edit your information, you are free to do so at the link below. Be aware you will need editing software. Canva is a free tool that would be able to make the edits if you don't have a program available. (Canva Link)
